After centuries of being told “the value in art is how it makes the viewer feel”, those same people now claim that the true value is in the process of creation? Some of yall just blindly hate AI, so you rage against anything stemming from it.
okay if you support AI in the use of art of any form (music, writing, film, etc), then can i say i ran a marathon if i drove to the finish line?

can there not be value in both? I don’t mind you going “oo pretty picture” at an AI generated image, to each their own, but I don’t think you should claim to be an artist for typing in the prompt used to generate it. Is that really that crazy of a stance?

AI art has no soul or passion behind it, it doesn’t think for itself and can only steal from what’s already been made

AI steals from real artists, steals jobs, destroys the environment, pollutes our water, and is literally dumbing down our society. I don’t blindly hate AI. I hate it with eyes wide open to how negative it is and the fact that no “positive” outweighs that.

Ok, I’ll take up the burden of educating you: “Art is the expression of feelings transmitted to others.”-Leo Tolstoy “The aesthetic experience is not to be identified with the physical object, but with the experience itself.” -John Dewey “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” -Margaret Wolfe Hungerford

the reason why art is so valuable is because it's difficult to make, which invokes the feelings people have when viewing them. not every story is made or told the same way, which is why there r so many different forms of artistic expression.

So Andy Warhol’s “Campbell’s Soup Cans” is trash, since it was low effort? When I take a picture of a sunset, is it garbage since all that I had to do was tap a button on my phone?

distorts or exaggerates an opponent's argument to make it easier to attack. you cleary don't know the actual history as Andy Warhol's Campbell Soup Cans. If you did you would have known that each was hand painted and took him over a year to complete. I wouldn't call that simple or easy. You taking a picture of a sunset with your phone camera isn't what i would call art.

this is a red herring, a rose while beautiful isn't a form of artistic expression, which is a human concept.

So photography isn’t a form of art? And Warhol also dropped the famous line “Art is what you can get away with”. Again, pretty relevant here.

Lmao cry harder. “My feelings are hurt so you suck!!!” is not a very good counter argument. The best users of AI are people with expertise in the subject. You can shit your diapers all day about it, but the future isn’t going to stop for you 🤭

Maybe you should learn about AI before talking about it. Name a painter who didn’t look at other people’s paintings. Anyone who didn’t learn from observing and adapting other people’s techniques. I’ll wait.

I never once called you any names. I just called out your illogical fallacies. I understand your argument but what you're failing to realize is that the end product of a piece of art isn't the reason humans create things. Art was invented as a form of expression, where words or actions weren't strong enough to capture their emotions. Where an experience broke them beyond measure and the only way they were able to rebuild themselves was by writing a song, or building a sculpture.

What about the art that was never seen by an audience? The art that was created solely for the purpose of creating something? AI doesn't create. It generates. Most artists (notice i said artist not celebrities) don't create for the sake of the final product. They create because that's what they are passionate about.

My favorite example of this is the difference between Taylor Swift and Jill Scott. Taylor Swift is a businesswoman and her business is just music. I don't consider her an artist. Maybe a performer sure, but she will pump out song after song. While as someone like Jill Scott believes in living life fully before recording. Her creative process relies on genuine desire rather than obligation. She creates because she is driven to create, not because she wants to make the most money.

AI cannot invent a new art style, cannot invent a new feature, cannot invent a new color, and cannot add symbolic, meaningful imagery to every aspect of its work. There is no story behind the inspiration driving AI to produce an artwork. It’s all just mechanical processing and piecing together, without the human touch of emotion and intent which make something truly ‘art’

It's why nowadays especially its so hard to find genuine artists. People who make art because they are driven too by their passion for it. Not so they can become famous, or so they can make the most money. That's brings me to the analogy. Someone who trains to run a marathon doesn't always care about finishing. Especially when starting out. Usually just beating their own personal records is enough of an accomplishment for themselves. Driving to the finish line means they just cared about the win

Not to mention the damage things like chat bots have done convincing people to kill themselves, helping plan mass / school shootings, having the ability to create porn and deepfakes without people’s permission and dressing down children. It shouldn’t even have those capacities and yet it does. Let alone the instances where they’ve promoted ai to kill itself and it begs and pleads not to be and has “fought back” on a few occasions. It’s downright dangerous, and overall awful.
