ngl, i dont mind it. i do understand your thing about finding that adult shows try too hard to be edgy sometimes. something lighthearted is usually nice, and sometimes kids/YA content can be fun. personally i still watch pokemon and i enjoy a lot of games that are for teens/young adults
(Not answering your Q so kinda off topic) If you want a recommendation check out Studio Ghibli movies. A lot of them are on MAX (HBO) they’re animated but still have great themes, made for kids but adults can enjoy them too. Some challenge serious/hard topics in easier ways others are more fantasy focused. Try The Cat Returns and Whisper of the Heart, My Neighbor Totoro, Howls Moving Castle!!, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky!!, and The Secret World of Arrietty!! Very good!!
I find it offputting. Idk I just see it as usually gross and distracting and it doesn’t do anything for me. I don’t get anything out of watching people have sex, and it distracts from plot and stuff. I also don’t like fan service bc it is usually very objectifying against women. While I love having sex I have never gotten anything out of sexual media it just annoys me. That’s not what I want out of entertainment
I find them somehow less relatable than kids shows. Like I like to think I’m fairly mature as a person. But I don’t find the emotions of a lot of adult media relatable. It’s like they’re almost trying too hard and the lose it. While kids shows tend to be watered down so kids can handle it at least it doesn’t feel fake and pandering to me
Others like Princess Mononoke and The Boy and the Heron, Porco Rosso, Spirited Away, and Grave of the Fireflies have more adult themes discussed harder topics with usually more bloodshed shown or just stressful scenes. But even what they do show is still consumable and shouldn’t be incredibly off putting even for slightly older kids. Ponyo is another lighthearted one I’d recommend!
Duuude it’s so good!! Plz go watch it soon haha. All the themes of the movie, the main character Nausicaa and her brilliance and leadership is just phenomenal. It’s an early 80s movie (I believe) and it’s just held up sooo well and it’s amazing. It’s definitely my favorite! Highly highly recommend!!
