Why do guys get upset or feel off when they hear that women choose not to breastfeed their baby(instead they use formulas). I dont get it because isnt good their baby is fed no matter the way its done?

breastfeeding helps with the babies facial structure i BELIEVE (could be wrong) could help avoiding the need for braces potentially

If you’re able to breast feed, I feel like it’s a good idea (I heard that the mother can transfer certain proteins and parts of her nervous system through it). I don’t think getting mad at someone for doing something different from your expectations is at all productive though.

Outsourcing part of motherhood to a corporation is crazy

My mom, her siblings, me, and my siblings were all entirely on formula. Some women first of all cannot produce enough milk to meet the child’s demands, and second of all, it can be extremely painful

Choosing the right formula would also do that too. And teeth structure is largely genetic

i think it's more jawline based. could avoid underbites etc

If she can’t breastfeed, it’s not really a choice then. If a mother *chooses* to use formula that implies that she can breastfeed and is choosing not to.

Its a choice and sometimes its necessary. That doesnt make some less a woman or a mother if they choose to feed their kid differently. It feels really toxic to do that

No actually breastfeeding them for too long is the same as having a pacifier for too long which restructures their teeth

i see i see. personally im 100% for the mothers decision because it involves her body. i was just bringing up a random point that ive heard about

That’s not convincing.

“It’s her choice” ok well it’s our choice to feel off about it.

The widespread elective use of formula just feels slightly dystopian and generally unnatural. It’s an uncanny valley feeling, like something out of Soylent Green or WALL-E

Okay so it feels unnatural to you because its man-made?? It still feeds the baby at the end of the day. You know what happened before formula was made? Babies would die or couldnt get the same protein from their mom’s milk causing them to develop tons of issues later in life

A lot of mothers don’t have the time to breast feed. Genuinely the way our work environment is it’s nearly impossible to both pump/ breast feed and work. Also breastfeeding can prolong some of the unpleasant hormones of pregnancy. And some women need to take medication that’s not safe for the baby. There’s so many reasons why

I’m talking about purely elective use of formula, not that which is necessitated by extenuating circumstances.

I have clarified that three times now. Stop boiling for 2 seconds and read.

I think I meant immune system. Or at the very least it can help strengthen the baby’s immune system

It does! But it can also weaken the mothers. When breastfeeding women need to eat A LOT to make sure that they are replenishing the nutrients they lose. And a lot of women don’t- and some can’t obviously which causes poorer health outcomes if they aren’t careful :(
