No, this isn’t drama gossip or entertainment for you, it is the trauma of Jane doe, and women around the world who are victims of rape culture. Instead of spending time searching for entertainment in this case you can work with your local universities to question and improve procedures in place to help victims.

I’ve been SAed before and my school handled it really badly. I want to see how they are reacting.

Does seeing how students “are reacting” at a different school help Jane doe get justice? The less we can make this about drama gossip or entertainment by observing Cornell like a fish-tank, the more we can pressure every university to look at their own policies and help survivors!

Yes. (Kind of) 1. It helps this particular Jane doe feel better about how people are talking about SA by rewriting their own experience. No (generally) I agree with your comment that turning Jane’s rape into gossip is largely unhelpful

I agree that bringing publicity to this case may help others feel like they can talk about their own assaults. However, posting screenshots from Cornell’s yik yak isn’t raising any more awareness for survivors, it’s making this case into entertainment and further pushing this as a Cornell issue instead of a society level issue preventing real change
