as a girl here’s my stance on it: it’s incredibly predatory. us women are told it’s “free money” and super easy to be successful on. that couldn’t be further from the truth. the average “model” makes under $200/month, and it ruins relationships with friends and family. I wish women would stop advertising it as a wonderful thing when it couldn’t be further from that. plus we’re encouraged to start right at 18…
And honestly I feel like it shows a lack of self respect to do OF instead of just getting a regular job anywhere else. It’s not less effort or easier or anything, it’s just the option girls use when they’re insecure and need internet men to validate them. If they respected and valued themselves they’d find value in keeping themselves more private.
100% agree with you. The people who say you can get rich are either: people who started early and built a following, people who fill a niche or are different, or people who have an outside following already. I think society on both sides has pushed sex beyond what it should be. Why are sexual crimes increasing? Ease of access to pornographic material. Every movie has to push some sort of sexual relationship. Our music, games, and advertisments are pushing both men and women into this huge trap
They advertise themselves as a super simple way to make lots of easy money, and actively encourage their top creators to talk about how much they make, but in reality it’s more like any other content creation where only the top fraction of a percent of creators are making big bucks, and the rest make pretty much nothing.
The difficult part comes from being made up and perfect looking every day for hours. They constantly have to be flawless, no bruises or marks or hairs or ingrowns. Looking like that takes a lot of effort every day even before they start playing the game. Also a lot of them have to manipulate their voice the whole time if they’re that kind of streamer so by the time they get off their throat is probably fucked.
