I'm really sorry that happened to you, and I don't think it's unreasonable you wanna stop seeing him because that's an extremely unsympathetic response and if he reacts this way now, he will likely react as poorly or worse when something like this happens I'm so sorry, that really sucks and had to have been disappointing
Google. Holy shit. 😭 BUT the major things- no we cannot control it. There is no amount of muscle or “clenching” that can prevent bleeding. Yes it is painful and can be debilitatingly so for many women. It is not on a schedule for many of us. It can be off by several days. It is miserable to experience and asking for a little help is not a huge favor.
Pads are uncomfortable as hell, can rip hair out, tampons don’t fit everyones anatomy and still bleed through, can hurt, there’s some evidence to show they have toxic metals in them, and other options are also: Expensive. It’s not anger at the guy for wanting to do something else, it’s thinking of him as less kind because doing so is a kind thing- it’s also assuming that he may not know too much about it, because being educated on it would likely indicate he’d have less (if any) problem with it
Also random but weirdly parallel example, replace periods with “a massive bag of glitter is going to explode in my kitchen, once a month, without fail, and there is nothing to prevent it”, and wonder if, given that cleaning up a massive amount of glitter uh is an exhausting task, that asking someone else not for the labor, but for a towel to help me clean up the mess, is a burden or a reasonable request?
I'm a guy and am really surprised you commented this! Doing a basic act of kindness has nothing to do with whether the person is your partner or not. Women need pads when they are having their period, I think it's totally reasonable for someone to ask for help with getting pads if they need some
