Forgetting the civil war is crazy. Next thing you’re gonna tell me is you don’t remember it taking place from 1861-1865 following the election of president Abraham Lincoln.

I’m so confused what OP is asking because I have never seen anyone wear anything like they’re describing.

Some historical reenactors wear authentic uniforms to help teach about that time period or its their hobby

Why does anyone want to reenact a war?? It's terrible and bloody and just overral devastating for anyone involved!

It’s important to teach history so it won’t be repeated.

Perspective. While reenacting it doesn't provide the full scale of what happened. It helps to shed light on a little bit of what they went through to get to where we are today. It can also provide hands on learning for those in observing it rather than just reading about it on paper. Cause I could explain to you what Paris looks like, but it wouldn't be the same as actually going there

As a historian the 1800s do matter. This is when mass immigration was happening the industrial revolution etc

Tbh I don’t remember anything about the 1900s besides big stick, the bare minimum of WW1 & 2, Korean War, and Vietnam war. Thinking back on it, my teachers or the school curriculum must of been obsessed with war 😭
