Biologically, men r less emotional than woman. Societally, we’re expected to be less emotional. Personally, I was raised to make light of my feelings. So just be patient with us. I just went thru this with my gf. The best thing u can do is just talk it out.

This is the way a lot of guys are socialized to interact with each other. They have spent their whole lives with no one being sensitive to their feelings, they learn to deflect seriousness with humor, and ultimately they reach the point where roasting someone is how they show affection for them.

I guess but to me if someone is being vulnerable and ur first move is to make fun of them what does that say abt u? I don’t think men are expected to be A-Holes, but maybe they are

I completely get where your coming from, but try keeping an open mind. When I made joke it was never meant to put her down, but honestly it was the only way I knew how to deal with negative situations. To me, I was trying to help relieve the stress by making light of the situation. She didn’t see that way. We talked about it. I promised to work on it. So honest advice, just talk about it when it comes up, and understand that most guys aren’t making jokes to put you down. We just dont know better

Biologically, men are more emotionally reactive than women due to smaller hippocampi’s. Socially, men are told not to be as emotional and overall we forget anger is an emotion. Don’t bring biology into this. The problem is the social construct that “men can’t feel emotions”. It’s learned not genetic
