In my experience I’ve mistaken romantic intent for acts of kindness in the past just because I didn’t want to assume anything at the time.

People are rarely kind to us unless it’s romantic interest or they want something from us. This past year I think someone has been kind to me like twice(that wasn’t a family member)

I was kind to this one guy in my speech class and also gave him a hug because he was emotional after one of his speeches. But I wasn’t the only one that hugged him. Later on in the semester he asked if I wanted to date him and I told him that I have a boyfriend 😭 (which is true) but I genuinely thought I was just making a friend in the class
