5’8 is average height for men in the US. Don’t let anyone “everyone I know is 6 foot” bs you into thinking otherwise

Average height for the US as a whole is ~5’9, but the US is a very large place, and the average varies regionally, you may just be in a tall area

See the reason you don’t see the guys shorter than you is bc they’re shorter than you. You simply don’t look down enough, whereas the men taller than you are always gonna be in ur line of sight. Also it’s an average across the world iirc, so the countries that have more ethnicities (like here in the US) you’ll see more of everyone whereas more individual countries like Japan are gonna have everyone be (roughly) the same height

Where do u live? Midwest tends to have taller guys (more white, Northern European).

It may also partially be posture? slouching compared to standing really rigid could create another inch or so of difference. Not that it’s inherently any better to stand taller, it just makes height more obvious

I’m 5’8 and I’d say I’m in the bottom 15% of height of guys my age.
