I want my wife to chase her dreams before children then after they’re school age i want her to make a decision on if she wants to continue or not if possible. For early child life i’d hope we’re in a position where she can be a SAHM

If she is smart and has a career that she excels in, it’s kinda hot. Not that that is the only thing that defines someone, it just helps

Cost of living is just so abysmally high that it’s completely infeasible to raise a family in one’s own home with only one parent working.

Only bc of how inflation is rn. If it were the olden days it would be sahm, but that just isn’t feasible anymore

This isn’t me trying to do a “gotcha” or anything but why would you not be a SAHD?

Nah if I have a badass wife I’m down to be a stay at home dad. I make well over 150k annually right now though at age 22 so I always just assumed i’d be the breadwinner unless someone who could support the family better than me rolls around. I’d definitely be fine with it as long as she makes as much/more than me.

Also sorta assumed that she’d want to stay home instead considering she just pushed the child out so her body may not be up to going back in the workforce for a while. Assuming your question was genuine

What an odd thing to assume

That’s not being a sahm. That’s called maternity leave. You do know there’s a difference right?

Why are you trying so hard to initiate conflict 💀 go away

Okay so the difference between sahm is, that’s a full time job. Maternity leave is when you’re recovering from shoving a watermelon out of your body and is not a full time job, but a full time recovery process. It’s sad that you clearly can’t see the difference

That’s like saying “I expected you wanted to run right after your acl surgery” sure, they wouldn’t mind walking but who expects them to run

You’re going on a rant about something that’s completely unnecessary. I stated in my original comment the change would happen after the birth of my first child. Thats when I would suggest the chance to stay home for an extended period of time. I genuinely can’t understand why you’re hunting for an argument so hard when there is no problem here…

That’s called “maternity leave” not being a sahm. It’s actually recommended that the father takes paternity leave at the same time so that he can take care of the mother and baby, because she went through a massive trauma and needs help

You have still made no point here… you also made a terrible analogy about an ACL acting like an overwhelming majority of athletes who tear their ACL’s don’t want to go back to their athletics💀 i’m done entertaining you at this point.

Nope it’s actually a great analogy. Yes they want to, but they can’t. Yet you expect it from them to run around. Also a good amount of acl tears aren’t from sports injuries, dumbass

And yet you constantly just assume and expect from them to run. When they can’t even walk

You just don’t know the difference between “maternity leave” which is a medical requirement and “sahm” which is a choice

You’ve done nothing but try to add words to my mouth and ragebait me. Please quit commenting you’ve genuinely added nothing to the conversation besides trying to call me a bad person with no evidence 💀

And all you’ve done is say that you expect a woman to be a sahm because she gave birth and should “rest” acting like sahm’s rest and acting like sahms and maternity leave are the same thing, as expected by a dumb ass ignorant man
