Your online to much 😂. This view is not representative of men. Also I can care about politics but I don’t discuss them because it’s not like after arguing about politics for an hour people go “huh I never really thought of it that way let me change my opinion” people believe what they want to and arguing about it won’t change that
Same reason for both answers: being (ostensibly) politically neutral minimizes the people you alienate and most of guys’ public personas are shaped (subtly or otherwise) around the principle of not taking others for granted/preserving your relationships. And if you DO care enough about an issue to grow a pair and piss someone off, demanding the majority to go out of their way to do better for a tiny victim group (esp one you never interact with) is a relatively inconvenient conviction to have.
The average *person* generally wants the best for everyone, but cares more specifically about the things that impact themselves and their loved ones. They will support good things for other people, but not *at their own detriment*. You wouldn’t oppose other people getting a pay raise; but have you ever once walked into work and demanded your boss give you a pay cut so that your coworkers who make less than you could get a little more? If your coworkers proposed it, would you vote in favor of it?
Don’t shoot the messenger, but I don’t think it is that they don’t care about the rights of minorities, and instead that a lot of guys do not equate being conservative with oppressing women, racial minorities, and queer people the way those people (including yourself seemingly) do. They see issues like the economy and foreign policy and immigration as bigger problems
I would disagree with discussion not being good. I actually enjoy hearing people’s opinions and why on many topics, including politics. Also arguing may not change people’s minds but having a discussion can. I personally have had my mind changed after I was more informed and have had conversations with others in which they ended up agreeing with me. Just be respectful and understand where to stop.
