Do you feel like you actually truly know your guys friends deeply? There's the stereotype that women friends know eachother deeply and talk about very personal things and men just talk about sports or hobbie or their jobs etc.

This is what I hate the most about male friendships as a guy. I wish I could form more male friendships like that.

No, not usually. But we have something we value even more. We like each other

Does that bother you though? That you might not know important things about people you say you're 'close' to?

Or does it get lonely not being able to talk about difficult things in your life?

not really cause we will talk about the important when it really matters. it’s rare but it happens

What would you consider to be "important"?

if someone is feeling deperessed or a prolonged negative state. well, normally it’s just emotions we don’t talk about we will talk about new life changes, gf, loss of family member, etc

I guess my question is how deeply do you talk about these things? Like is it oh me and my gf just broke up and everyone is like shit man that sucks or do you guys actually get into it like why what happened how are you feeling about it, etc?

yes and no, we won’t ask about it too much other than maybe “what happened” but that’s about it. if they want to say their emotions they will yk?

honestly not really i think it’s just more common for male relationships to be centered around doing things (gym, sports, video games, music) rather than talking face-to-face for a long time like women do. i also think lots of men try to save that depth of connection for relationships and like to keep friendships pretty surface-level.

but yeah bc of that (plus the fact i’m single asl) i don’t really feel very close to anyone in my life and that does suck

I like talking to people face to face a lot or on the phone. I’m also autistic, which makes my friendships different.
