How do you guys process breakups? I feel like guys don’t feel it until much later.

I don’t process it until I feel safe so it could take hours or weeks or even months in rare cases before I breakdown. I breakdown and spiral hard so I have to make sure shit is at least somewhat taken care of before I allow myself to feel

I think in general grief for guys is pretty delayed.

I'm a month and a half out from the worst breakup of my life and I agree a little with the 'feel it later' part. At first I was in shock, then I was really angry for a few days, then I got really sad for around a week, then I started to alternate between angry and sad — a lot of 'how could she' and 'how am I so worthless' and now I'm mostly sad. I think about her all the time, I listen to the music she likes and cook her favorite meals. She always hated when I smoked so I've been smoking a ton.

It’s actually most painful at first and the slowly the toxic bad memories are excised and you’re just left with the happy moment s

I processed like she was dead. Like literally mourned that cheating 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Granted, my childhood dog had literally just died so… i was still grieving.

It depends very much on the circumstances of the breakup

I never really cry, but the last week or so I've been crying a lot everyday. I've had a few days where I woke up and had a panic attack immediately. Mostly I've been trying to go through our pictures on my phone and clear out a lot of stuff or sorting through boxes since we moved into different places after 5 years and I still have a lot of her stuff I need to send to her

Yeah absolutely but I meant it’s less immediate from what I’ve seen. At least with my ex it was, he enjoyed his sense of freedom until the 2-3 month mark hit and it all went downhill whereas women experience the opposite. Immediate grief and then it goes up

there's definitely a shame->guilt->anger->depression cycle going on. 'i can't feel this way' relents to 'i'm so pathetic for feeling this way' which leads to 'how dare she make me feel this way' into 'it's all my fault, i don't deserve love'

Nah I disagree still. When I broke up with my ex it hit me right away, and it has slowly gotten easier over time
