in order to create self dress clothing, that can help people with physical disabilities, as well as just innovative designs like a color changing dress. but like they also say my ideas aren't achievable and recently one of them made a comment abt me being the token DEI hire and idk it just hurt my feelings and idk why they don't believe in me

You’ve been around these parts before and heard our answers before. They don’t change, just be you. Having a unique passion can be isolating in engineering

DEI hurts people like you because even though you are qualified, people will always question your credentials as long as DEI exists

You see that is where you're wrong. People only say DEI is harmful when it comes to industries like STEM or entertainment where it seems like the diversity is being forced ergo hurting more than benefiting. However that's not what DEI is. In athletics, it's never questioned why certain athletes get scholarships or drafted bc they prove their abilities every single game and it's not something nobody sees (like STEM) or subjective (entertainment/with casting in movies).

like it's very easy to prove your credibility when you are repeatedly winning games, or scoring the most points or whatever, which is why no one ever questions why they didn't make a team or get an athletic scholarship. i just wish people applied the same logic when it comes to non athletic career fields. the point of DEI is make sure everyone has who is qualified has an equal shot.
