People generally don’t care about age gaps if the guy is top 1% of whatever he’s doing. So the more recent historical example is rock stars or movie stars. But really top 1% of whatever the profession he does or is likely to do, it seems to make sense.

Just food for thought, but how come you wouldn’t want to make a move if the guy is 6 years older than you? If you are otherwise interested in him, would such an age gap actually matter to you? Or are you more worried about how he would react to you making a move, or how other people would judge it?
