Seems like a depressing way of looking at things and a sure fire way of putting yourself at a disadvantage in making new friends… That said, I get it, this was me once (very recently actually)

I promise if you put yourself out there; there will be people who will either reciprocate or be friendly. Some may give a bad reaction. But last week at a bachelorette my friends and I had a guy try to hit on us we were all uninterested. (Most taken married/engaged/relationships) we made a friend and he joined us dancing from club to club. We never exchanged info but it was a fun time. So while you might not get a date it won’t always end in fire. Hope this helps build trust you can say hi.
