Let’s be honest though, self reporting is not always the most accurate. How many people, even on an anonymous app, are really being honest with themselves about everything? And most men don’t even realize they’re doing it because society has taught us women are objects for millennia, it’s gonna take a while to break all that down.
There have been studies done that show men often describe their mothers in ways depicting what she does for them, she cooks for me, she cleans for me, she takes care of me etc, but when asked to describe their dads they’d say he’s smart, he’s kind, etc. It’s an unconscious thing we do, but from childhood we’re raised to view men and women differently, and inherently that comes w treating them differently too. We’re not gonna view our guy friends the same way we view women we’re attracted to
there’s always gonna be some level of sexualization and objectification because that’s how society raises us. “Cover your shoulders, you’ll distract the boys” etc it’s a natural response for our bodies to react to stimuli but the way society has framed it is the issue. We taught women that they are supposed to hide to avoid that, when we SHOULD’VE been teaching our boys that it’s not okay to be a weird pervert.
