As a gay man, I think I projected my discomfort onto straight men in my youth. As I’ve gotten older, I don’t feel so awkward around other guys but idk if that’s me feeling more comfortable with myself or men not caring. Do gay men make you uncomfortable?

They do a little insomuch as they’re a minority I don’t usually encounter (I’m from the south) but that’s less of them making me uncomfortable by virtue of being gay and more of me being uncomfortable so I don’t offend them by mistake

Nah, idc. Even if you hit on me, i would simply say: sorry dude not into 🍆. Thanks tho. IMHO, being gay doesn’t change anything about a person.

Well when I was younger, my worry was that if straight guys knew I was gay, they thought I was interested in them or were simply uncomfortable with my presence. I mean I know now that it was just me being uncomfortable with being gay and being paranoid about what others thought about me, but I feel like it was maybe a combination of projection and the general climate around gayness at the time.
