Ima girl with depression but sometimes my mom, dad, or siblings will just randomly send me a “hey I love you” text or something that reminds me that they love me and it really helps

be there for him emotionally, make him food and get him some water, offer to do activities with him, and give him kind/positive words

Maybe a little woke but try to find some volunteering or organizing you can do together for something you guys both care about. Like ik depression is a lot of brain chemical problems but I do feel like knowing that you are doing something positive in the world will get you out of your head and give you something to be proud that you’ve done. And it could be a cute thing to do together!

It is important to support him, but also to help him support himself. Challenge him and incentivize him to rise to it

I don’t have depression but I do struggle with executive dysfunction like a lot of depressed people do. My partner helps by doing tasks with me like showering or eating and helps prompt me when I get overwhelmed.

Leave him alone sometimes to figure it out, it sounds weird but it helps and prevents codependency

I think this is big. Allowing him to know you are a safe space but also don’t pry on what’s wrong if he isn’t sharing.

Or offer to do something for him, like say he’s struggling to keep things clean or the simple tasks seem the most daunting do them for him with or without asking! Random acts of kindness really go a long way

A lot of people consider helping the marginalized to be left leaning. I personally think that’s silly, and I’m making fun of it a bit there. But some people do think that.
