Lol feminism, primarily being pushed by the most embittered and spiteful women of society, has ruined a lot concerning dating and relationships (even more outside of it too) for the normal women because it turns out that for 90% of women, masculinity is attractive and they want a man that can financially provide for them, but this has been made harder and harder to find.
Toxic masculinity is a misnomer because the only time masculinity is toxic is when it mixes with femininity to just have the worst of both, masculine men are needed more than ever yet have been largely cleansed from the dating pool via bs propaganda about emotional intelligence or not being too dominant even when that is what most women want.
being "emotionally intelligent" (with modern connotations) often means being openly emotional / emotionally vulnerable/ soft to """better handle our emotions """ which is not masculine in any sense nor a good idea for men apart from masculinity. The only emotional intelligence really needed from us is to be able to interpret how our partner is feeling and how to deal with it, something that while hard is critical for relationships
yeah that’s not what emotionally intelligent actually means by any definition, you’re just seeing chronically online posts about it if you think that’s the modern take on emotional intelligence. emotional intelligence is about being able to manage your own emotions in a positive manner, not being “soft” lol i think the modern definition you’re talking about just comes from shitty tiktoks and tweets
I am saying that the modern conception of "emotional intelligence" and advice reguarding personal emotional regulation comes primarily from the female perspective. This is not an issue of me being terminally online (because i'm not, this is the only social media i use aside from direct messaging services) but rather of the female bias among contemporary and historical psychotherapy literature and practice. It is a shining example of trying to use solutions designed for women on men.
so that’s wrong lol the leading modern researchers/authors on emotional intelligence are: DANIEL GOLEMAN (literally popularized EQ), peter salovey, and john d mayer 😭 if you’re complaining about the increase of females in therapy/psychiatry jobs that’s only occurred in the past 25 years. “contemporary” refers to the past 80 years post WWII. Also, historically, men have dominated the psychology field
