Men, do you think having a gf gives you more motivation to improve yourself? I’ve heard ppl talking about the girlfriend effect and the desire to be better for her, do you think that’s true?
I’d argue most men try to improve themselves in order to be able to attract women in the first place. Sometimes men in relationships get complacent

I’d say so, especially if she’s improving herself with me, since I struggle with improving myself like going to the gym and socializing without someone I know being with me.

I’d say for some men yeah, if I had one I’d want to be the most caring and kind person in the world (I already want/am caring and kind), but I feel like it would motivate me more in many ways. I think some men though may get it then get lazy

Yes, 100%. When I was with my ex I wanted to be a better man for her. I started working out, eating healthier, everything I could do to be better.

Before I even started dating her I wanted to be closer to her level and able to give her whatever she wanted and have her take pride in knowing I was hers.

I think feeling seen/heard/understood does that for men more than anything, and usually gfs are the most reliable, dependable and consistent when it comes to putting effort into that

a friend of mine told me having a girlfriend makes the everyday strain of work and sleep and repeat easier. ei love is another reason to keep living. it helped him a lot when he thought there was nothing else left for him
