It’s a very modern and detached way of thinking to say that things like food, water, and shelter are human “rights.” You have the right to pursue those things, and it is wrong for anyone to do something that limits you from doing so, but you do not have a right to have something that has limited supply.
Yeah so like if my mother weren't able to have food stamps, me and my sisters would've starved. Growing up sometimes the only meal i had that day was at school, but bc a small percentage of people misuse and instead of making strict regulations, other children in the same position as me will go hungry bc they don't have a right to food.
those are rights?? are u stupid? we have a right to healthcare and all of those other things you stated. there are people who work job and still can’t afford to eat, so SNAP is completely valid. and since when has food been a limited supply? last time i checked, walmart and aldi were fully stocked
That’s just not true, also it doesn’t matter what other countries are doing, I think tax payer dollars should not go to people that aren’t citizens. Many people share that same sentiment. It’s not that we don’t want to feed the hungry, but there’s only so much to go around so if we’re feeding illegals, that means there are others such as homeless people or Veterans not getting what they need.
Okay valid response. I was thinking of the wrong thing. In terms of snap, what bugs most people that disagree with it are the amount of people that take advantage of it and don’t even work or attempt to get out of poverty because they receive so much government aid. Obviously there are cases where people can’t work and those are the people that need snap. But for every person that is taking advantage of it, there’s someone out there that needs it and isn’t getting it.
So just because someone is working doesn't mean they are making enough to support themselves or a family. Growing up my mom worked worked multiple jobs. Still couldn't afford to feed us. I'm literally only in college bc i'm on an athletic scholarship. It's such a privilege take to just assume that someone who has a job also has the ability to provide. Especially in this economy.
