Other than there just being some typical creeps, a lot of guys don’t receive any kind of affection even just platonic from women throughout their life besides family members so they immediately believe any kind affection is often taken as interest and then they get disappointed when they learn it wasn’t.

Because women rarely try to befriend guys, so when they do some guys think you want them or something

There was a girl I was becoming friends with but I was also kind of interested in her, to me it seemed after a bit she was interested in me but it turns out she wasn’t. She never knew to my knowledge that I was interested in her and I’m still friends with her, I buried any romantical hopes/feelings and let them wither away
