Not really a distinction. It’s just a matter of degrees in how MUCH he likes you; that is, whether it’s enough to warrant time/effort commitments and exclusivity. If he’s taking you on dates and making time for you are the strongest indicators

Hard disagree. Sex is not useful as a bartering chip bc then you wind up having sex you don’t want to buy a relationship HE doesn’t want, which makes both things suck. Better to have sex only if you want it, not if you don’t, and let a relationship stand or fail on its own merits imo
