Thoughts on IUDS? I plan to discuss more with my gyno (she’s a saint) when I see her again but I’ve been having some pretty rough cramps lately and am considering if

I love mine but for contraceptive purposes. I feel so safe now that I have it. Mine’s copper though so it wouldn’t help with cramps

Also if anyone wants to share how the actual insertion of the IUD went 🙏 I know my gyno provides anxiety medicine if you ask so I’m not super scared but I’ve also heard it’s incredibly painful

The copper one made my period and cramps unbearable but kyleena totally took away my cramps and my period

Wait I didn’t know that 😞 my main point of wanting an iud was so I could avoid hormonal bc

That was my reason too, and effectiveness. Gotta be honest though, the copper IUD made my periods heavier and I’ve heard that’s pretty common

Yeah once I googled it I realized it was one of the worst for cramping.

Does it affect your mood or anything that you’ve noticed? I’m not as worried about contraceptive purposes as I am more of just wanting to be able to function normally and not suddenly get hit by immobilizing cramps, but I also know they can kind of mess with your mood which scares me a little

I shared these tips on another post but take Advil or Tylenol half an hour before, if you smoke do that too. It feels like a really intense cramp for a few seconds while they insert it, then milder cramps for a while after it’s over

Okay so considering it would be for my horrible cramps that doesn’t sound unbearable 😭 I don’t smoke or anything but I’ll bring the needhoh I used when I got my first tattoo lol

Needoh is a great idea. And if you can survive your cramps you can definitely make it through the insertion. My story is that I had JUST torn a ligament in my foot the day before, so the IUD process was light work in comparison

1000mg Tylenol 45 minutes before and a sweet treat (which is free from the clinic theyre all saints) will get me through it 🙏 before I get one I’ll probably have them recheck for any cysts or signs of pcos or endo though since I think endo may run in my family
