i think if a man is asking to take me on a date it’s implied that he’s offering to treat me. i don’t think i’ve ever had a guy want to split the bill on the first date tbh.

I always believe in splitting the bill, unless it's my birthday or something. The man paying comes from old gender norms, and sets a power precedence. I'd rather split the bill or pay for it all myself, than have him think I owe him anything

So many guys act like paying for dinner means they get to hit later so I prefer to just buy my own

Depends on the dynamic, who asked, and how the date came about. Honestly it could go either way depending on the person I’m dating.

I prefer 50/50 no matter who asks, I get uncomfortable when people insist on paying for me especially when we barely know each other. It also makes me feel like he’s going to expect something in return

You don’t know this person. Pay for what you bought😭

If we’re splitting the bill, we’re just friends. Who ever asked out the other person pays the bill

I like paying for my own. Personally I have had to deal with guys buying expensive meals and then expecting me to pay or for us to split even if I got an inexpensive item

Yeah I totally get that. I honestly feel the fairest approach is that each pays for whatever they ordered rather than splitting 50/50. But if the man wants to pay for it all, that’s totally fine too as long as he recognizes that it’s a voluntary gesture, and she doesn’t owe him sex just because of it.

Absolutely. And if another person is paying it’s polite not to order something super expensive. For me meals with friends are the same. If offer to pay and someone decides to get a $150 steak and some wine I am no longer paying for you because that’s an abuse of my kindness

Yeah definitely, I’m the person that always orders something cheap when someone else is paying for me. I honestly hate when people feel like I’m using them. And this applies both on dates and eating out with friends.

But I’m also not the kind of person to go on dates with random people I know nothing about, I could understand wanting the man to pay if he’s a total stranger and you don’t feel the initial attraction

Yeah I feel the same like if I ask someone out I don’t want them to feel like they have to pay

I actually don’t know what it is about “feeling like I owe him” if they feel like you’ll owe him for him simply paying leave that’s not a man you need to even be with. I’ve never had a guy think I’m paying when they asked me out on the date. It’s more implied that he’s paying and then they’d get offended if I even pull out my wallet to pay my side of the tab

I just don’t want to listen to constant begging or do anything that could lead to a dangerous situation later, which is has for me. And it’s also a good test to see if they’ll get mad at me for paying for me/our food. I’m an adult with my own money. If you want to pay and you do it in a joking way, that’s chill. Getting mad that I’m buying dinner? Nah.

That’s when I pay my fare and go home. I also just auto carry self defense in my purse. It’s usually an implied thing that whoever asked who is paying the tab no matter where the venue ends up being. If the person who asked was expecting something in return I politely ask for the check and just go home

Yeah but I’m talking about in the car in front of your house. Not every guy will beg in the restaurant. They’ll drive you home, beg and beg and beg so you feel guilty and trapped because he knows where you live. I don’t want to deal with it.

Self defense. And that would mean they beg regardless if you paid or not. A man who’s greedy won’t care about the bill at all they only cared about having access to you entirely. But I also prefer to meet at public areas for that reason

It’s just my preference because in my experience, buying dinner makes a guy feel extremely entitled to me. I do keep self defense things on me, but I would prefer to not have to use them. You don’t have to agree or do it the same way as me, it’s just my experience

Trust. Carry. The. Weapon. Keep a taser or pepper spray on you at all times it’s super helpful. Gives time to go inside if you didn’t drive and call the cops. Sexual harassment or assault will never fly with me and I warn them beforehand and if they know they’re on that begging mentality don’t even bother pulling into the establishment I’ll stay home

That’s perfectly fine. I’ve just never ran into an experience where I felt I needed to pay just to not give the wrong impression I just pay bc I personally felt like paying. Or I don’t want someone to buy it out of curtesy. I don’t like using self defense items and thankfully I’ve never had to. But I’ve always carried it in case something did happen living on my own or if ppl followed me to my car
