Do y’all expect men to give up their seats on a public transport for you? Because there’s a big debate at my university with women saying that there’s no “real men” because guys don’t give up their seat on the bus

for a fully able bodied woman (like myself) i would appreciate it as a kind and gentlemanly gesture if it happened to me, but it wouldn’t ever occur to me to expect a man to do that because i don’t need it. i would however, definitely expect a man to give up their seat for a woman if she was pregnant. and i would judge them if they didn’t. honestly regardless of gender on either side, i would expect any able bodied person to give up their seat for someone who was pregnant, elderly, disabled, etc

It should not be expected. But also the gentleman thing to do is to give up your seat. Coming from a guy

I’ve never expected that. If a guy did offer, I might find it pleasantly old-fashioned and think he had an upbringing with certain manners, which could be a plus. But an obligation, no way

yeah nah, i don’t expect that. i’ve had it happen for me, ill graciously accept, but it doesn’t ever bother me when it doesn’t happen. some guys i’ve been involved with were always heavy on doing gentemanly stuff like that but i don’t expect that kind of kindness from strangers.

Literally why would that invalidate their manhood 😭 if they managed to snag a seat, then by all means keep it.

i don’t care like no i don’t expect a random man to give me their seat, is it a nice gesture? obviously, but no i don’t expect it from a random man. if that man is my friend or my bf, then yeah i do expect it

no, at least not for strangers. in my family the men will give seats to the women in the family tho. in my home country public transport etiquette is generally first come first served unless it's a child, elderly, pregnant women, or injured or disabled person.

Uh no, I don’t want to be babied by strangers. Perfectly capable of not falling over, thanks. Come back to be when I’m 90

as a woman, i dont tbink it should be expected. If its an elderly person or a pregnant ir disabled person then yes I think its the right thing to do, but a random woman, if u give up ur seat for her that just a selfless kind gesture but it shouldnt be an expectation

I mean if it was a guy I was dating maybe it’d be nice but a random guy? Unless I was exhausted or he wouldn’t let me I’d probably have him keep his seat

being a gentleman doesn’t change if he’s my friend or my bf…. if i’m with my guy friends they always give up their seats for the girls in the group, not bc of any flirting or ulterior motive js bc they’re gentlemen
