That said, hopefully you’re both communicating with each other and on a level playing field about who moves where and why (as opposed to making assumptions about what the other person would want without asking them)

I’m the one with more flexibility in my career plans but it shows I lack my own ambition, drive and independence or personal identity and she’d probably lose respect for me after realizing that or itd make things feel too serious

I don’t see how it would show you lack ambition, drive, independence, personal identity, etc. Now, if YOU personally believe you’re lacking in those areas (independently of whether you move near her or not), that’s something to address. But the focus should be on your actual motives and desires, not a worry about whether people will think it’s weak.

Also, it sounds like you might not really be certain of your relationship with her. What does she think about you two living closer together? Do you enjoy the relationship and look forward to a chance to spend more time together?
