Ngl as a guy I feel so uncomfortable with the girls wearing basically a bikini with shorts at school. Like I don’t wanna be called a weirdo for glancing.

I feel the same way and I’m literally a girl. It just makes me uncomfortable how I’m basically getting flashed without consent at my 9:30 lectures

No one will call you a weirdo for glancing. It’s staring or leering which is weird

IMO it depends, if it’s a school by a beach it makes more sense, as long as it’s not like in class or whatever

my least favorite fashion trend to ever exist is those super short “gym shorts” that look like men’s underwear and basically show every pussy lip in detail.. never walk up the stairs behind a girl wearing those if you don’t want to see way too much

I don’t know how they’re comfortable walking around in next to nothing. I KNOW that shit isn’t comfortable. It’s gotta be for some sort of attention. Or at least due to a lack of basic self respect

Anytime I talk about this they take it as tryna be sexiest or misogynistic or whatever. It’s good to know I ain’t crazy for dis lol

yeah I get lots of hate for saying this too but I genuinely just don’t understand why it’s so hard to put some clothes on that actually cover your body like they’re supposed to.

Why would wearing a bikini at school be okay

I have no idea. Was it an actual bikini top? Like a bathing suit? Terrible FDOC fit

Or simply dress like you have respect for yourself. There’s a difference in wearing a crop top and wearing what looks like just a bra. Doing stuff like this ruins the idea and message of feminism. Especially in college a place where you wanna be taken seriously.

I’d agree but like how many schools in Texas are near a beach

All I saw was what it looked to be like string top. I didn’t really get a good look because I immediately looked away

Like a crop top that ties? That seems fine. I mean the start of the semester is hot still everyone is likely in shorter shorts, crop tops, tankini tops and bralettes

A top that ties ≠ bikini

What point? Unless they have no undies on it’s okay. Don’t need to see the bush walking to class. But short shorts in the summer is cool just don’t overdo it having straight butt out. But idk what you want them to do about the top just don’t directly stare and gawk. Boobs are gonna boob

this self respect angle is such petulant, pathetic nonsense. one can dress skimpy and have self respect. you just don't want to admit that u don't respect women who dress that way

feminism is about equality and autonomy, not making everybody comfortable or participating in respectability politics. one of the core "idea"s and "message"s of feminism is that women should have choice over their bodies - not that they should only choose to do with their bodies that which makes others most comfortable

How you dress is how the world gonna see you. If I’m wearing ripped shirt and got a nappy head you think I’m a be taken seriously ? Like I said ain’t nun wrong wearing a crop top. But wearing a skirt 2 sizes too small or string crops are too far. Especially as people of color our parents taught us that straight outta the womb. What we do say, act on the internet represents all African Americans.

if i see somebody in a small skirt i see a person in a small skirt. i don't make assumptions about their character because i was taught (by MY black family) not to judge a book by it's cover. i've also learned in my career that some of the ppl who influence national politics and economics (therefore taken very seriously) dress like they were born in a shelter 🤷🏽‍♀️

i empathize with you, but it's not my nor any individuals job to carry the weight of the black community's presentation on their shoulders. frankly, you uphold that unfair double standard more than anybody else could by lending credence to the idea that we should carry that weight. racists point to ppl with your views like tokens when they want to justify their biased thinking

and again, you say "how you dress is how the world will see you" but you don't speak for the world. all i'm seeing is that you agree that you don't respect women who dress skimpy; but you're trying to assuage the guilt you feel for thinking this by dragging the entire world into it. speak for yourself because as a member of said world i think this is a pathetic perspective

No matter what you say it’s true whether you like it or not if you were approached by a man with sagging jeans thats way to big for him shirt wrinkled wearing a backwards cap and all looking like a wanna be thug would dat not pop off red flags for you true or not ?

The people who even work at this school even tell you watch what you were because you don’t know who is watch you. It’s how the real world works idc what you got between yo legs if you dress goofy at school I’m a say so

it wouldn't lol. like what am i supposed to say? "oh no! a man with his booty out wants to know where room 403 is or... my heavens... the time 😱" just say that you judge people on appearances and call it a wrap. that's allowed you know? nobody can force you not to make assumptions or not operate on biases and stereotypes
