Need a female perspective: In college, a girl I liked seemed to be trying to set me up with her roommate, but I only wanted her. 5 years later she agreed to a date. If her friend used to like me, could “girl code” still carry weight this long after?

Idek why this girl code exists. If my friend is happy with a guy I like, I’m going to support her. Plus, this way, one of us does get to be with him. Seems like a net positive. There’s a limited amount of good men to date and lots of creeps. I’ll never be the one to interfere when my friend finds a good one.

It sounds like to me that she liked you, however, she was not necessarily interested in a relationship. Therefore, she thought you should date her roommate instead. I do want to apologize, because you deserve a direct answer instead of being teased.

For a little bit of context her roommate lives 3 hours away from us and the girl I like is significantly closer.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Five words per comment is not my idea of an “answer” or any helpful advice for that matter. I did forget to mention that when she agreed to my proposal for a date, she seemed hesitant. So the hesitancy is why I’m wondering if she might be consulting her friend to see if I am now fair game? (that was actually kind of the whole point for me wanting a different perspective)

5 words per comment is not helpful.

OK so you’re saying that the “girl code” of “you can’t date them because I like them” does not carry weight anymore because how much time has passed?

Both of your comments just had so little to offer and seemed pretty ambiguous
