Why is the MAGA crowd so unhinged and insane?

They are a cult. That’s the long and short of it. The way they see Trump is the way many cults see their leader. As the one who is chosen, can do no wrong. The way MAGA pulls you away from your family and friends, the focus on only getting your information from a place that your leader approves of? It’s clearly a cult.

Because they’re unhinged and insane at heart

They say the same about liberals. We have just grown intolerant of each others viewpoints and creating a greater divide (and hence, less empathy) for each other

the reasons for them saying that are different from ours. i have not grown intolerant of their viewpoints, their viewpoints go against morals that i have always had. i would’ve always had less empathy for anyone with those beliefs, maga just brought them all to the forefront. mind i don’t feel this way about republicans in general because beliefs about the economy and taxes are no reason to be hateful… maga goes beyond traditional politics and into human rights

You have different values than them, they don’t really care about issues that they know won’t affect them. Abortion, deportation, these all seem insignificant to them if you just live how they believe you should live (morally, no rape, legal, not criminal). I’m not saying these are valid, but they care more about structure and economy and things that they believe affect them more. If you cannot express the empathy that you said you lack, you’re just them but on the other side of the spectrum.

yeah they don’t have regard for other people. i don’t respect nor totally understand that. those issues don’t affect me directly either but i still care about them.

as someone who grew up in a relatively rich family, their concerns about taxes and whatnot affect me and my loved ones too. the difference is i don’t put that above what i consider basic regard towards other humans.

Then you don’t truly care about other people either. The issues you care about just seem to align with that virtue sometimes, but you don’t practice that to people you disagree with.

It’s ideas like this that have allowed the right to move so far in that direction to the point where we r now facing significant consequences. The right doesn’t get a pass to be crazy because we r supposed to be the “tolerant left” and we r now supposedly “as bad as they r” which is ludicrous

they’re not just people i disagree with, they are direct supporters of oppression of several groups. not that this is anywhere near the same level, but do you have empathy for slave owners? your whole idea of needing to have empathy for everyone regardless of their actions and beliefs seems silly to me.

I’m straying from my point which is calling them unhinged and insane just dehumanizes them. If you can’t see that this only creates more polarizing politics then you’re just them under a different skin

I’m consistent in my ideas, I’m just aware of nuance. I understand that different situations require different thinking and can have different conclusions. I also think one of my major issues with maga is that they like to push ideas onto other people. Don’t like abortion don’t get one, but u shouldn’t have a say over what I do. U don’t like trans people, fine, sit down and stfu about it because the way u want to live, which is usually influenced by an old ass book I think is fake, shouldn’t-

Determine the way I want to live my life, outside of hurting others. Deportation without due process is not included in this conversation because it is hurting other people and there are other nuances to it, not that I’m being hypocritical

It’s just a fact. If u look me dead in my eyes and tell me the Earth is flat or vaccines aren’t real im going to laugh in ur face because that’s fucking stupid. If u look me dead in my eyes and say u believe trump is articulate and doing good things for this country, I’m going to laugh not only because it’s blatantly wrong, it’s laughably wrong
