Political party, no. That often comes from life experience and family influence. My Republican partner is very anti-Communist because of personal history fleeing Communism, and this is the primary reason for their party choice. I am Independent but registered Democrat for the primary vote. Respect for basic human rights, yes. I would NEVER date someone who believes that Trump’s current government overreach id okay, that trans ppl deserve to be kicked from military, or that women should not vote
