True equality = man the fuck up, stop making excuses. Believe the truth: all humans bleed red, therefore are equal. AND stop looking for someone else to hand you a dollar for your “troubles”, realize the only limit for you is what you believe about yourself. Therefore, go out and accomplish on YOUR OWN GRIT. Become president. Become an Astronaut. Become an actor. Become a world leader. Become a teacher. Whatever YOU want.
I get what youre saying man and i think youve got good intentions but some women do have exceptionally bad periods (PCOS or endometriosis being common causes). In that case its more like taking sick leave. Some women have periods bad enough to cause migraines, vomiting, and even fainting.
I believe thats what OP was referring to. The problem currently is that women have to take sick leave days/vacation days, functionally penalizing them for a health condition. A doctors note being a requirement would likely be enough to prevent people from abusing it. Though in my opinion, it should be offered in general, or at least give women an option to work from home while on their period, just not made mandatory. Id have to look into how spain implements the policy.
If i wanted to be really radical about this id say people should not be forced to choose between pain and income, regardless of sex (not ignoring that periods are a unique struggle to one). There SHOULD be more lax policies regarding employee health. Obviously thered need to be ways of preventing its abuse, but people shouldnt have to be at deaths door to get sympathy.
Women with this issue are usually aware of it at a young enough age that the have the opportunity to orient their career to accommodate this issue. Consider the fact people who have chrons disease which is way worse in many cases have to resort to getting checks from the government and not working in such cases
As someone WITH endometriosis, im calling bs. Almost no workforce will give a flying f*** if you have period pains. What youre suggesting only funnels women into terrible jobs, which is not a good answer at all (and just worsens sexism in the workforce tenfold). I would try to listen to actual people that suffer from chronic conditions instead of blindly suggesting policies that would ruin their lives.
Many jobs have work from home and even less than 3 days in the office. If you cannot deal with this arrangement of going to work in person 2-3 days a week one week a month in pain then you are basically complaining about being an adult woman at that point. There are many jobs with remote work days that pay better than the average person statement is false and out of date by like ten years
And no, menstrual disorders and most chronic illnesses can present at any age. It wasnt until i graduated highschool that mine became noticeable. And even if i had caught it sooner, how am i meant to “orient my career”? Genuinely. It sounds like “avoid higher paying jobs”, so hopefully im misinterpreting.
