it’s become a popularized term by reddit incels who are mad that women have standards. they think women everywhere have too high of standards and only want to be with the highest status hottest men, and that why they have no success. they believe the “average man” has no dating success

yeahh and what’s funny is that it can largely be disproved by just fucking going outside and seeing that there are many normal “avg” looking people in happy relationships

really it’s just them trying to cope with the fact that they are undesirable for whatever reason. it’s much more comfortable for them to believe that women have insane standards than to have to come face to face with the reality that they are so undesirable that they don’t even fit reasonable standards.
