I need advice on getting over retro active jealousy in my relationship. It has been killing me since the beginning. (He is my first bf and he got out of a 5 year relationship a few months before meeting me)

Hey, I don’t really have much advice but I just want to validate you by saying that you’re in a tough situation and it’s totally reasonable to feel the way you do. My heart really goes out to you. I guess I would just give it time and try to come to terms with the fact that she obviously was a huge part of his life and that doesn’t just go away. If he’s truly devoted to you now then he should be patient and understanding as you work your way through these feelings. Best of luck 🫶

I don’t think it’s bc I’m like scared he’s gonna go back to her.. ig I just am bothered by the fact that all the things he says to me and stuff he does for me he has already done for someone else. And for someone who he was with for so long and shared all his firsts with. It’s just hard for me to imagine he’s not thinking abt her when he’s with me or that his words mean less

I completely understand that. As someone who’s dated before I can let you know that I don’t think about them, even if I was doing the same things with them. Obviously that probably isn’t much comfort and I understand that. Communication is your best bet- ask for more frequent reassurance. First relationships are always tricky.
