A lot of religious people believe the earth was created in 6 days or is only 7500 years old... Science doesn't intermingle with god. Aside from this, I'll never accept bigotry, and I'll never accept those who worship a book that preaches bigotry. Religion has been the bane of the progression of humanity and is an outdated coping mechanism and means of control.

I mean, I’m gonna downvote when people say disagreeable shit. I think a lot of t other people felt the same. If they don’t want downvotes they just shouldn’t give such braindead takes

Yeah, that’s fair. But calling someone’s personal opinions brain dead takes is just disrespectful and rude, even if you don’t agree with them

It’s absolutely disrespectful, that’s how it was intended. I’ll stop being disrespectful when Christians stop preaching hate and bigotry against the lgbt community. I’ll stop when the Catholic Church stops molesting kids and protecting the molesters. I’ll stop when Christians stop trying to force their religion onto public school kids, like how a bunch of psychotic Christians recently made the Ten Commandments mandatory in public school classrooms. It’s a cult.

I understand your dislike towards Christians and don’t blame you at all (given how toxic *a lot* of us are).. but I am not one of those. I support the lgbtq+ community and am even apart of it myself. I don’t stand for any of those bad things that are happening nor do I wish to push my beliefs on anyone. I just believe in mutual respect and do think it is unfair to assume that all Christian are like the ones you mentioned (unless they are specifically saying thing to support that they are)

I know ppl like you exist sure, but here’s the thing, there’s a saying in Germany. If there’s a Nazi at the table and ten other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with eleven Nazis. Choosing to associate with a group that worships a book that says gay men are to be stoned and women must obey their husbands. Even if you say “oh well that’s Old Testament stuff…” that doesn’t really change that fact that it’s part of the Bible, which god supposedly wrote. So if your god has…

… espouses such abhorrent and disgusting things, how can it matter when he did it? Why would it suddenly become okay that that’s in the Bible just bc it was older. So when your religious texts promote bigotry, hatred, and sexism, and your most vocal members are much the same, and your god clearly feels the same, just bc you don’t feel that way, doesn’t absolve you of association with a religion that does.

I understand what you are saying, but I do not worship the Bible because it was made by men who could have easily twisted it to fit their own agendas. My relationship with God is one on one. Your saying about the Nazis makes a lot of since, but I need to be clear that I don’t sit at that table. The only person at my table is God, who is not at all the person these “Christians” preach him to be. I don’t even go to a church because I don’t want associations with these people.

Okay, I understand. I think it’s best if I respectfully agree to disagree. I’m glad you try to do good and promote anti-bigotry. However we see things differently on a large enough scale that I don’t think we’re ever gonna be on the same page, and that’s okay

I understand and respect that. Regardless, I’m glad you feel strongly about these things though. It shows dedication for how much you care about others and I appreciate you just hearing me out.

Devoutly christian in a time where it was the societal norm. Scientists that came in ages before them were burned by churches. And no, if the bible is directly wrong about the time it took to create the watch, then it cannot be trusted in anything else. I am also referring to all secular religions, in the early periods of man they helped. We’ve evolved now, we should act like it.

Really? You don’t follow those things? Abortion is currently being banned across America due to bible lovers, wars are being fought over claims of textual holy land, and the LGBTQ+ community has been under direct religious assault due to this bible that you apparently “don’t follow.” Stop cherry picking your own book of truth

God of the Gaps. Things become increasingly infinite and complex so therefore in order to cope with the lack of understanding he filled the gap of his understanding with god

Well no, it’s being banned as it violates the Hippocratic oath as it does harm by taking a life. That’s got nothing to do with religion, it’s just science.

Cool to see two people with different opinions coming to a healthy compromise and talking to each other like adults. Props to you both.
