anyone have any good book recs? i’m in a slump right now but i love historical nonfiction, thrillers/horror, and romances (nothing heavy smut though)

What kind of historical nonfiction? I have a lot of like critical geography/environmental recs. Theyre written very narratively tho not like dry facts but stories ab events and themes

big on vietnam war era history and books on class relations. i’ll read almost anything though and just finished a fierce green fire so i’d be down for some more environmental reads!

Oh hell yes! Im sure youve read silent spring? The snail darter and the dam is great 70s era stuff. Encounters with the archdruid is pretty good and particularly the bet: paul erlich julian simon, and our gamble for earths future rlly lays the groundwork for how 1960s environmentalism and skepticism started in the us.

And i have more that are more region specific to wa state if you want those too theyre top notch. If u have any books like that if love some recs too! Im rlly interested in the post wwii/vietnam war use of nasty chemicals for suburban use and the environmental implications of that

silent spring is amazing! i don’t have any environmental recs concerning the vietnam era (some talk about the impact of agent orange but on a personal and political level with VA care after exposure), but i really recommend the spitting image and kill anything that moves!

i also think you’d enjoy now is the time to collect by paul brinkman! it’s about the field museum’s african expedition and salvage zoology which is SO interesting

after some quick research on storygraph, it seems like the invention of ecocide may be a good read! herbicidal warfare in vietnam and how scientists pushed the DOD to discontinue the usage of agent orange
