Imagine discounting the breadth of a person’s humanity because of political signaling…

Believe it or not politics are quite important. It’s dehumanizing someone to dislike them for certain beliefs, in fact that’s pretty normal

I used the word ‘discount’ not ‘dehumanize’. That would mean something much more radical which simple dislike wouldn’t warrant. Most of this country supports Trump. They are not evil people.

There are serious burgeoning fascists on the rise both here and abroad (a small country off the Mediterranean iykyk) that would warrant dehumanizing treatment. The average Trump supporter however is not one of them.

Lol I meant to say it’s not dehumanizing. But also quite frankly from my perspective supporting Trump shows a level ignorance that I would certainly not tolerate in a friend or partner, especially since we would kind of argue all the time because I talk about politics a lot. No it’s not evil, but I think political opposition is a perfectly understandable reason to reject someone

I 100% agree, and to be quite honest a Trump supporter is so out of tune with what he’s actually doing that they definitely don’t believe the same shit as him. But, by and large they are xenophobic and dangerously nationalistic. I’m speaking about the types of people who would have his merch by the way, not everyone who voted for him, even though I also have a bone to pick with them

What’s wrong with being nationalistic as an American no matter who you vote for

This is what I mean, although nationalism can mean different things in different contexts, just as republicanism or various other things can

And there are levels, the word DANGEROUSLY holds a lot of weight

Patriotism is a good thing. Nationalism tends to be at the expense of an established ‘Other’. By-and-large, I would argue that the Trump fanatics do actually want the same things that those on Left do. Not only do they see Trump as a savior, but they see someone who is actually doing things, no matter how convoluted and confused they are.

Who doesn’t want a return of manufacturing, safe communities, communities at all! Of course we should strive to prosper as a nation. Unfortunately no man on the ‘left’ has the juice like Trump does, and the Dems will never ever have an organic movement like he does. There’s just no alternative for now.

Basically it’s a long and winding road we are on right now, but at the end, through Trumpian whim and folly…we may actually get MAGA Maoism. Not even kidding lol

No way. Not only because Trump is so far from anything resembling communism, and also because the economic and industrial conditions are so far off from early communist China, but also because Trump is a populist, and if something he does is really truly unpopular and could affect his brand amongst his base that he cultivated then he would change his mind

This is like at least the saving grace of a guy like Trump, because although there are aspects of him that resemble fascism (although definitely not communism), he doesn’t seem to actually stand on anything, and is more concerned with maintaining the approval of his supporters than trying to push an actual agend

It’s precisely because he is a genuine populist that he is more likely than not act in the interest of his base who categorically want an end to American Imperial misadventures and to finally clamp down on the parasitical conglomerates and equity firms that ruined American life for decades now. These are all things that China does *right now*

Lastly, Trump is an ego-centric guy. He looks up to leaders who demonstrate power. He speaks admirably of Xi and Putin. In my view, these are GOOD things. Trump is wayyyy more likely to blow off ‘special interests’ in the name of the Common Good. I’m going to stand on business calling Trump a true progressive in the Real sense of the word. Neo-liberalism is dead, let’s see if the Maga populists or the techno-fascists will win. The DNC lib is for the history books.

One more point! It’s so funny to me that the gradual yet profound improvements China quietly makes are perceived with such awe by some Americans…to the point that they can only be met with State Department level propagandized denial. “The massive Chinese infrastructure projects are impressive but actually Chinese people are bad engineers”. Bonkers.

Everyone should take active measures to be involved in their communities including with those that the dominant culture of the last decade deemed irredeemable. Also, help organize some labor unions.
