realistically, and i mean this so kindly because i support women in the sex industry, do not advertise it if you have people in your life who are against it. don’t advertise it if you want a job in the future that will conduct background checks on your social media presence. for your own well being and safety.
i don’t think it’s fair to judge someone else’s actions based on your experiences. i personally would never do OF, but honestly i respect the hustle when someone else has the confidence and means to do it. it is a very taboo thing and i’m sure op has thought about that a lot. dignity looks a lot different person to person. i firmly believe that a person can separate their professional “dignity” from their personal life
Things like onlyfans contribute to the sexual objectification of yourself and other women as well as fueling the porn addiction epidemic in men. Young girls are groomed into starting them as soon as they turn 18, well before their frontal lobes are finished developing and they are able to fully understand the implications of this. Also, did you know the owner of onlyfans has given millions of dollars to AIPAC?
i was unaware of that political affiliation there. however, for sex work in general, my argument still stands. obviously it’s a huge problem right now. i think it’s disgusting the way the industry promotes preying on especially young women. in an ideal world, it’d be balanced and ethically sourced. i recognize that is not the world we live in. i thought that OF was an attempt to create a platform for consenting adults, rather than trafficked girls being forced to make porn. a lesser of two evils
Honey the entire sex industry is like this, everything from actual prostitution to online pornography. The entire basis of it is men exploiting women’s bodies for profit or their own pleasure. While I also wish this wasn’t the reality for so many women, it is and the more normalized it is the more vulnerable women and girls will fall victim or be forced into it. When one woman’s body is for sale every woman’s body is for sale
All labor has dignity and the only voices that we should be listening to are sec workers voices. People are gonna do sex work and the best way that we can protect them is to create venues where sex work isn’t criminalized and is seen as a valid business with regulations and standard legal protections
While this is also a valid (though somewhat generous) interpretation, this is also a phrase which gets used when people are queer, have different religions, or generally live differently. That is to say, though it CAN just be a comforting thought, this is almost never the case, especially given the context of this post; it is almost always laden with judgment, and on top of that, it’s usually judgment the speaker has no business making.
