So I would say if you’re feeling reluctant to break things off, try having an upfront convo with him and tell him that you feel like he could be doing better maintaining the long-distance element of the relationship. You can work out with him what expectations you have and what changes you want and see how he takes it

But ofc if you feel like you’re too unhappy to keep going or if you talk to him and he’s unwilling to make any changes, then that may be your sign that it’s time to go your own way
