Genuinely, why am I getting downvoted for my “ma’am” post?? I’m just trying to find out if that’s seen as disrespectful in other parts of the country 😢

I haven’t seen your original post (not online often), but I’ve been called ma’am since I was 15 because of babysitting and tutoring, and the kids were raised to be respectful. I’ve been out in several teaching roles since then and still get called ma’am to this day. I have zero problem with this and often wonder why some women get upset or offended by it🤷‍♀️

Personally I would use ma’am for a woman of any age cause I was raised to see it as the most respectful way to address a woman

See that’s what I was wondering. Like when my friend brings his daughter over for dinner (she’s 6) I always respond with “ma’am” to her cause I want to show her she deserves respect

I have no idea. I use it when you’re in a position that deserves respect, so I don’t understand how it can be seen as disrespectful? That’s the whole point of the post cause I’ve heard that other parts of the country find it disrespectful
