As someone with scoliosis who got scans earlier and is at 29.2 the doctors said that once you get to 31 degrees they recommend surgery. For now I’d get a heating pad that wraps around your back to help loosen up the muscles around it. Do really small stretches !

Surgical consideration starts below then. I’d consult someone if I were you, especially if you’re having so much pain. You can also try PT if you’re afraid of surgery. If you get any numbness or tingling or breathing issues you NEED surgery. This severe pain is also a sign you probably need surgery

I don’t have scoliosis, and I’m not a doctor. This isn’t medical advice legally. I’m a 19F pre med and EMT who did a rotation in orthopedics this past summer lol

I am doing physical therapy and both my doctor and my therapist are like you don’t need surgery but I can’t walk three miles without it taking me out for a day and I can’t stand for hours so I can’t work with immeasurable pain

Thank you I’ve been told surgery is for people above 50 degrees cause like my pt has 2 40 degrees curves in her spine and she’s able to stand straight 😭

You can get a consultation with a different doctor. Where are you from? What network are you currently seeing your dr and pt out of?

MN and health partners but also like my pt is the only person in my area that specializes in scoliosis

If ur pt is the only one in the area it doesn’t mean they r good, they have no competition to compare to… Health partners is #1 in ur state so maybe consult with a diff dr within the service Bc as I said before and someone else said surgery starts way before ur angle

Even the difference in which vertebrae r involved can have a difference in pain Comparing to others wont be helpful for u. Listen to ur body 🫶

I promise they are good they’ve helped a lot and made so many things more bearable its just I’m not in shape for the surgery and I think I still might be at the start of my journey
