Honestly in my opinion it’s because a lot of us were raised that way and a lot haven’t unlearned it but I’m sorry for any pain they have caused you

You’ll like them less the more you learn about them. Our society right now is dogshit. Too much patriarchal brainwashing, too many entitled and violent men. You’re not bad for hating their terrible behavior. It’s ok to be angry and upset when evil is the norm. Here’s how you know you don’t actually hate all of them: those few that you can trust can earn your genuine respect.

Part of the reason why I hate a lot of men is because I know one who showed me what basic human decency looks like in men. A summer fling from years ago. He was super kind and respectful, and he didn’t even try to push my boundaries. Holding other men to that standard results in a lot of disappointment, but I know that being single is much better than dating trash.

I wish most men were actually selfless. Not selfless in the performative way that stops as soon as no one’s there to pat them on the back for it. I wish they would look around at the creatures of the earth and give a shit. I wish that they would all take no for an answer. I wish that they would care to check up on their classmates like that one guy from my high school. It’s so rare.
