What would getting rid of the patriarchy do to your relationships with men? Would you still have the same expectations/perceptions about them or what would change?

getting rid of the patriarchy wouldn’t change my personal expectations or perceptions because i already don’t expect people to conform to the gender roles perpetuated by the patriarchy.

I’d be less fearful of interacting with them on a more intimate level

I don’t think it would change anything besides men being more comfortable to just be friends. I was taught that you should be nice to everyone. If I ask someone out on a first date? I pay. I see someone? I open the door for them. These things have nothing to do with the patriarchy for me but instead about being a good person.

yeah what 2 said. i never expect men to pay for everything it just so happened that this guys i date wanna do that for me, if the patriarchy never existed im guessing they would feel less pressure to do that. my perception of men wld prolly be better if they weren’t conditioned to believe they need yo have power over women

Gotcha, yeah see I was never taught that ideology growing up (that men should have power over women) but because the patriarchy exists I feel like (please correct me if I’m wrong) a lot of women expect that behavior from men, whether they’re wanting it from men or totally against it

You might have never been taught that idea of thinking, but you still benefit from it
