They do contradict because people then (as a whole) were not idiots. And, no amount of metaphor or allegory or “being read in context” will ever excuse genocide, mass rape, slavery, or any of it— which was not intended to be allegorical or any other excuse. The abrahamic cults are dangerously, regressive, and do not belong in modern times.

Hyperboles and metaphors all contradict science and don’t excuse the written and rewritten lessons of adultery, slavery, rape, and other lessons though. The ppl who wrote it were not stupid but the language isn’t written in conciseness
