idk i feel like the whole “reasonable suspicion” would get extremely murky. some people just love working with children, doesn’t mean that there’s anything more serious going on. personally i find it really fulfilling to work with children, doesn’t mean im a pedo. yes this would probably catch real threats but at the risk of sending away innocent ppl without evidence… idk if that’s worth it. the very basis of our justice system may crumble if we persecute people based off hunches.

Yeah no. Under this logic there would be no more teachers, pediatricians, school counselors, camp staff… People are allowed to enjoy working with kids and find the work fulling without being a pedo. You could also have a lot of false reports because what’s “reasonable” suspicion? Also do you know anything about the processes for a mental hospital? You can’t hold someone there like that. And if you give them the ability to do so, the health/ medical system as we know it would just crumble.

Removing innocent until proven guilty is dangerous and allows the government to arrest anyone without probable cause

Realistically could never work, too easy to be abused and before you know it anyone who’s LGBT is a “potential child predator”. Instead of putting anyone who “seems” into kids into an institution, there needs to be stricter laws around CSAM and grooming as well as stricter punishments for offenders. Focusing more on the factors that create abuse is more effective than arresting people for thought crimes

It can also be weaponized like McCarthyism

Okay, so I thought of a way to elaborate on the example of a adult who is more interested in children than they should be. Michael Jackson. He was never convicted of CSA. I’m not here to debate on whether the allegations against him are true or not. But what we cannot deny is that he engaged in some odd behavior towards underage boys. Like for example, sleeping in the same bed. With children that are not his own. Many people think that’s creepy even if it is perfectly legal.

I’m thinking that behavior that creeps people out even if it’s not a crime on the books could be grounds under this proposal to use the red flag.

You are also describing a violation of the constitution here.

Something I’ve been thinking is that maybe it should be illegal for adults to have unsupervised contact with children that are not theirs.

Lmao you think hiring a babysitter and sleepovers should be illegal?

Another idea I have: To solve the issues of images on the Internet depicting child zexxual abuze should we make it illegal to post images of children on the internet even if they are innocent?

Why do you say that?

Another idea that sounds good on paper, but realistically would do more harm than good. Most abuse comes from family members, so if a child could never speak to anyone without a parent present it would make them even less likely to report abuse. Something that would be more productive would be like, funding for schools to have licensed child therapists or mandatory wellness checks for families

We need to allow for common sense exceptions for the reasons you mentioned.
