Tell him straight out how it made you feel, you can be firm about it but still gentle while addressing it. And if he doesn’t respect it or treat it like it’s important then point that out too.

if he has shown this behavior multiple times and he knows it makes you upset and he hasn’t changed it, he probably wont, you need to decide if you can handle it when it keeps happening
