omg i was in a VERY similar situation many years back😭 we had a friend group and one of the girls did exactly what ur friend is doing, we didnt hear from her for a very long time before she came back and explained how her relationship was extremely toxic and she didnt want to leave us to begin with but felt forced. It never hurts to reach out but id say dont be surprised if its not the reply u want

mm possibly she texts me too occasionally like for birthdays or like any big event that happens in either of our lives which makes it harder to fully not care when she clearly still cares about me

at the end of the day, though, she was okay pushing you aside for this guy. if you think she's like, being gaslit and isolated and stuff, that's another matter entirely, but if she's just like fine with it then yeah you have your answer

well it's def a much bigger issue he like sa'd her but it was like her first real bf and she's def being manipulated she would just never listen to me which led to the end of our friendship
