“I said he was bad so I skipped over the rape scene because I thought I had proven that enough”. But the rape scene is the big proof that he is the villain. Also him fetishizing Latinas, saying that he would do the same to get with someone when he was a teen, and the constant sexism of the women I was not a fan of
I’m not saying Bear wasn’t the villain- he very very obviously was. But was he _always_ the villain or was his arc that he went from a nebbish emotionally stunted loser to a man that willingly controls the whims of a woman he inadvertently forced to love him once he realizes whats going on. I think Bear is many things in the beginning but “subtly calculating” is not one of them- he’s like one of the dumbest characters in horror.
I’ll be dead honest in saying I haven’t watched the movie, so I can’t discuss bear specifically but imo people don’t have to seem extraordinarily evil to do evil things. Someone might have the capacity for evil, but only every exercise it in specific situations, which for bear would’ve been all the power he gained over her. I really don’t know. What sense do you get from watching it?
